HOST Program

As it begins its second year, The Ohio State University Medical Alumni Society is happy to report that the HOST (Helping Our Students Travel) program has been a resounding success!  A special thanks to all the students and alumni who registered and made the experience extraordinary.

Last year, 36 alumni from 25 different cities volunteered to be host fourth-year medical students traveling for residency interviews.  The alumni affairs office received 26 student requests and made 19 successful matches.  Three alumni volunteers even hosted students on multiple occasions!  Perhaps most impressive of all, the generosity of the alumni to provide overnight lodging saved OSU students approximately $2,000.

This year, we need your help to make the program successful once again!  As an alumni host, you can provide anything from overnight lodging and meals to simply a phone call to assist a student as he/she interviews in your area.

Both alumni volunteers and students were asked to fill out an online questionnaire which helped the Alumni Affairs office match students with interested alumni.  Once matched, the student(s) and alumni coordinated specific arrangements.
