Dr. Knopp's work in the field of Angiogenesis is featured in a New York Times article, "A Budding Tumor Unmasked by the Vessels that Feed it." The article discusses how Dynamic Contrast-Enhanced M.R.I. is used to detect changes in blood vessels in and around a tumor.
Michael Knopp receives Wright Capital Funds and BRTT Funds, 17 Million Dollars.
Dr. Michael Knopp received a grant for $9,119,100, from Governor Bob Taft on May 28th to create a Wright Center of Innovation in the biosciences. The project is also known as the "Biomedical Structural, Functional and Molecular Imaging Enterprise." BRTT will also fund this project for 7.9 million dollars. Read about the Wright Center of Innovation.
John K. Lattimer Award
Michael Knopp, MD, PhD, Department Chair and holder of the Novartis Chair in the OSU Department of Radiology, gave the honorary John K. Lattimer plenary lecture May 10 at the annual meeting of the American Urological Association in San Francisco and was presented the John K. Lattimer Award -- both in honor of his outstanding advances in the field. Knopp is a world-renowned expert in the research and clinical applications of magnetic resonance imaging, positron emission tomography and computed tomography scans. He heads Ohio's first Wright Center of Innovation in Biomedical Imaging, a $17 million joint effort with Case Western Reserve University and Phillips Medical Systems, Cleveland, that is part of an overall $50 million collaboration.
Listen to the lecture over the web. The lecture is titled "Dynamic Contrast-Enhanced MRI".
