Nuclear Medicine/Molecular Imaging Physicist

The Department of Radiology in the College of Medicine at The Ohio State University (OSU) is recruiting a tenure track faculty position for a Nuclear Medicine/Molecular Imaging Physicist.

The Department of Radiology has over 45 professional faculty, performs more than 400,000 procedures per year and has training programs for radiology residents, fellows, medical physicists, and technologists. The Department leads one of the strategic Medical Center Signature Programs, is well equipped with state-of-the-art technology including PET/CT and SPECT/CT and leads the Wright Center of Innovation in Biomedical Imaging that includes dedicated projects on MRI/PET and ultra-high field patient imaging.

Nuclear medicine and molecular imaging are rapidly expanding within the Department of Radiology through the efforts of the Wright Center of Innovation in Biomedical Imaging. Special interests in multi-modality hybrid imaging, PET/CT, SPECT/CT, MRI/PET are at the forefront of our research and clinical roadmap with state-of-the-art pre-clinical and clinical facilities. In addition to an extensive small animal imaging facility in the newly opened Biomedical Research Tower, we are expanding our veterinary imaging capabilities for both pre-clinical and clinical services.

The responsibilities of this position encompass participation in the development of clinical and pre-clinical patient imaging and research including hybrid imaging and advanced image analysis. Related duties include modeling, image processing and reconstruction, as well as data quantification and standardization. Successful candidate will also assume a leadership role in the pre-clinical and clinical imaging quality and standardization as well as developing an independent research program.

Qualified candidates must have a Ph.D. degree in Physics/Medical Physics or related field and have at least two years post-graduate experience in medical imaging and clinical diagnostic medical physics. Board certification by ABR in diagnostic radiological physics or by ABMP in diagnostic imaging physics is highly desired. Candidate must also have programming skills including C-C++, Matlab and/or IDL, as well as extensive knowledge of Nuclear Medicine/PET system operation, electronic test equipment and data processing. Salary is negotiable and will be based on training and experience.
