Patient Education

RadiologyInfo Web Site

The Radiologic Society of North America (RSNA) and the American College of Radiology (ACR) sponsor the RadiologyInfo web site. This web site provides patients with information on procedures they may experience within diagnostic imaging, interventional radiology and radiation therapy. It is designed to help patients prepare for a particular radiologic procedure ahead of time. The information presented in each section is reviewed by physicians with expertise in that area, and further reviewed by the ACR/RSNA Joint Web Site Committee. The site does not serve as a physician referral service nor does it provide medical advice. The web site is written for the general public and is free of charge.

There is another site called Medline Plus which gives information on radiologic procedures. It is a government site put together by the U.S. National Library of Medicine and the U.S. Institute of Health.

The Ohio State University Medical Center's web site also contains a section on patient education. This site has written descriptions of procedures, conditions, and patient care instructions. The documents are available as Adobe Acrobat PDF. (Get the free Adobe Reader, formerly Acrobat Reader)
