College of Medicine Alumni Achievement and Faculty Teaching Award

The Ohio State University College of Medicine Alumni Society presents two annual awards recognizing excellence in both the teaching and practice of medicine: the Alumni Achievement Award and the Faculty Teaching Award. Nominations for these awards are solicited in March with the announcement of recipients made in June, each year.

College of Medicine Alumni Achievement Award
Created in 1947, the Alumni Achievement Award is presented to College of Medicine Alumni in acknowledgement of distinguished career achievements, both in contributions to the practice of medicine and to society as a whole. These contributions can range from distinguished service in clinical, academic, governmental or military settings, publication of significant medical works, or exceptional support of the University and the College of Medicine.

All full-time faculty members are encouraged to submit nominees for this award; nominees do not have to be living to be considered. Recipients are honored at the All Class dinner during Alumni Reunion weekend in September. The names of all Alumni Achievement Award winners are enshrined on the first floor of Meiling Hall.

College of Medicine Faculty Teaching Award
Created in 1959, the Faculty Teaching Award recognizes current College of Medicine faculty members that are not alumni of The Ohio State University College of Medicine, but have made a significant contribution to the educational mission of the University and the College. Past recipients have been acknowledged by alumni for outstanding teaching contributions to the student body, serving with distinction in high academic posts and significant dedication to The Ohio State University and the College of Medicine. More than 80 awards have been presented to College of Medicine faculty. The names of all Faculty Teaching Award winners are enshrined on the first floor of Meiling Hall.
