Medical Advocacy Program
Dear Colleague/Classmate:
Thank you for expressing interest in the Medical Advocacy program at The Ohio State University. We hope you will consider working with us to support legislative and public policy initiatives that help further the mission and goals of the OSU Medical Center and academic medicine.
The goal of our advocacy outreach is to have at least one medical advocate representing each of the 88 Ohio counties, as well as across the United States. As an advocate, you will be asked to make contact with your elected representative or senator and advocate the medical education message, possibly 2-3 times a year. Program staff will provide you the background on the issue and talking points to aid the clarity of your communication. Given the nature of the work and the need for a speedy response when legislative action is moving, our likely mode of communication will be e-mail, when a “call to action” is made.
Please review the information below about the Advocacy program as well as the Steering Committee member list. If you would like to be a medical advocate, please complete the attached form and return it in an e-mail attachment to Martha.Hicks@osumc.edu, or send it back in U.S. mail to Medical Center Alumni Affairs, 260 Meiling Hall, 370 W. 9th Avenue, Columbus, Ohio, 43210. If you first have questions, feel free to contact the Medical Alumni Affairs Office at (614) 292-1658.
Sincerely,
| Sarah Artman, MD ‘87 Chairperson, Steering Committee Medical Alumni Advocacy |
