Biomedical Informatics is an interdisciplinary field concerned with unlocking the potential of data and information to solve problems, ultimately improving individual health, health care, public health, and biomedical research.

The faculty for our educational programs are located within the College of Medicine giving our students access to researchers addressing data-driven problems in biomedical science with expertise spanning the fields of bioinformatics, statistics, clinical informatics, and big data methods. Our classes apply computational methods to clinical and biomedical datasets and discuss the real world challenges to implementing informatics tools into clinical and research workflows. The growth of big data methods, precision medicine, and artificial intelligence in medicine will require a knowledgeable work force. Our programs aim to build a solid foundation for our students so that they can become key contributors addressing the informatics needs of tomorrow.
