The Biomedical Science major is designed to prepare students for a variety of graduate and professional programs. Approximately 50 percent of the alumni enter medical school, 25 percent enter research-focused programs (i.e., MD/PhD or PhD) and the remaining 25 percent enter healthcare-related programs (e.g., dentistry, pharmacy, physician assistant, public health, etc.). While most alumni enter an area of patient care or research, some have also entered graduate programs in business, hospital administration, and law.

What Can I Do with a Major in Biomedical Science?

Most students who are pursuing a degree in Biomedical Science wish to attend graduate or professional school in medicine, optometry, dentistry, biomedical research, etc. While Biomedical Science can be well suited for students who wish to pursue a variety of professions, the strong focus on research gives students the background to pursue specialized areas of research in medicine.
