Our Mission:

We are working to improve the lives of individuals with brain or spinal cord injuries through collaboration and innovation in research, rehabilitation and clinical sciences.

Our Strategy:

We are committed to a collaborative approach to develop better treatments for the consequences of brain and spinal cord injury.  We value a multidisciplinary and interactive culture dedicated to our common goals:

  • To improve understanding of the biological mechanisms underlying neurodegeneration and endogenous repair of the central nervous system
  • To identify novel targets and promising clinical therapies for individuals with brain and spinal cord injuries
  • To develop and improve rehabilitation strategies to maximize recovery and quality of life
  • To improve personalized care through identification of biomarkers for differentiation and diagnosis of neurological disorders and their effective treatment
Our Members:

The CBSCR is composed of over 25 members from basic and clinical science departments and centers, including:

Graduate and  Clinical Education:

CBSCR Members are dedicated to the education of scientists and clinicians through their active participation in graduate and clinical training programs including:

NIH Sponsored Spinal Cord Injury Training Program

CBSCR Faculty Coordinate an annual Training Program in Spinal Cord Injury Research Techniques.  This program was established in 2003 as a contract from the National Institutes of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS).  Each summer, 16 selected participants from research laboratories throughout the world converge in our core facilities at the OSU Medical Center where they receive hands-on and classroom training in the best practices in SCI research techniques and analysis.  The program is highlighted by personal sessions with individuals with SCI and a public symposium featuring prominant guest experts in the field of SCI research.  Follow this link for further information.
