Understanding and serving diverse communities begins with an inclusive learning environment. Ohio State has a variety of initiatives to increase diversity in biomedical sciences. The goal of our MEDPATH program is to increase the number of underrepresented minorities and students from disadvantaged backgrounds who enter medical school and have a commitment to practice in underserved communities. While our Underrepresented Minority Visiting Student Program presents students with an exciting opportunity to experience a one-month rotation in a variety of specialty areas. The Discovery Postbaccalaureate Research Education Program (PREP) is an National Institutes of Health (NIH) funded program that provides an intense paid research experience in outstanding research facilities with leading investigators at The Ohio State University College of Medicine. Additionally, the innovative ASPIRE program provides research experience for Ohio State undergraduate students from underrepresented and disadvantaged groups who want to pursue medicine and research. We all thrive by learning from our unique differences.
