Distinguished Professors and Innovation Excellence Awards

College of Medicine Distinguished Professors and Innovation Excellence Awardees Announced!

Dr. Lockwood, Dr. Gabbe, and other members of the College Executive Committee, surprised each recipient with their award during a departmental function. See below for pictures and to read more about each recipient’s achievements.

Dr. E. Christopher Ellison, Surgery, Dr. Wendy Frankel, Pathology, and Dr. Randy Nelson, Neuroscience, were recently honored as the inaugural recipients of the College of Medicine Distinguished Professor award. These three eminent faculty members were selected by the College Executive Committee from among many qualified nominations. They were recognized for their outstanding contributions to education, scholarship, and service. The awardees will hold the permanent title of College of Medicine Distinguished Professor. They were also presented with a plaque and a $1000 honorarium.

Dr. Milisa Rizer, Family Medicine, and Dr. Julie Bishop, Orthopaedics, received inaugural College of Medicine Innovation Excellence awards. Dr. Rizer was recognized for her leadership in the implementation of the Electronic Medical Record, and Dr. Bishop was recognized for her innovative achievements in medical student and resident education. The recipients were presented with a plaque and $500 honorarium.
