The Center for Education and Scholarship team offers a broad range of expertise and skills and will serve as a core facility for the promotion of scholarship in teaching and learning for the purposes of enhancing the quality of health sciences education and research.

John Mahan, MD, is Director of the Center for Education and Scholarship and Assistant Dean for Faculty Development in the OSU College of Medicine . John has demonstrated experience as a professional educator: Professor of Pediatrics, Program Director for the Pediatric Residency and the Pediatric Nephrology Fellowship Programs at Nationwide Children’s/OSU (since 1991 and 2002 respectively), Vice-Chairman for Education in Pediatrics, and Chair of the Training and Certification Committee for the American Society of Pediatric Nephrology. He has a broad range of education, scholarship and leadership experiences including bedside teaching, course and program development, faculty development, Senn Delaney leadership training and facilitation, and leadership in national organizations. He has a recognized track record of scholarship and collaboration and continues to participate in and lead a variety of scholarly educational projects at local, regional and national levels. |

Victoria Cannon serves as a Liaison between the LSI Curriculum Implementation teams and the CES. She is also charged with coordinating educational technology projects in the College of Medicine. Victoria comes with great experience as the former Product Manager of MedSTAR and a project manager with OSU:pro, as well as a wealth of private sector experience in product and project management and marketing. |

William Andy Hudson, EdD, is Associate Director of Medical Education and an auxiliary Clinical Assistant Professor in Pediatrics. Dr. Hudson supports the College of Medicine and CES in the areas of scholarship, evaluation, curriculum and instruction, professionalism and faculty development. He has been with the university since 1985 serving as Director of Education in Veterinary Medicine for 10 years and with the COM for 15 years. |

Larry Hurtubise, MA, is an Educational Technology Consultant and Adjunct Assistant Professor in Biomedical Informatics. He has experience in technical and interpersonal skills training and development, as well as expertise in the role of technology in education and training. Larry's research and scholarship area is the effective use of Educational Technology. Larry has worked collaboratively with other health professions colleges on campus and brings experience and expertise in instructional design, educational technology, web design and in developing collaborative initiatives. |

Rollin Nagel, PhD, is the Education Resource Specialist in the CES and Clinical Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine. Prior to his arrival at OSU in 2006, Dr. Nagel was the Director of the Joint Program of Research in Pediatrics and Family Medicine at the Medical University of Ohio in Toledo. With his educational background in research and measurement along with previous collaborative project success, Rollin is well-suited to assist in the design, implementation, evaluation, analyses, and dissemination of educational innovations and to foster interaction and collaboration related to educational scholarship. |

David Way, MEd, is a Senior Research Associate in the Center for Education and Scholarship. He supports the College of Medicine and CES in the areas of educational research, testing and assessment, and program evaluation. Dave is starting his 18th year at the Ohio State University College of Medicine where he has directed the testing arm of the Office of Medical Education and served as the college’s liaison with the National Board of Medical Examiners as Executive Chief Proctor. His areas of interest and expertise are in psychometrics-survey and instrument development, data analysis, proposal development, and research methods. |

Karla Vick is an OSU Grad who has worked with various Medical Center departments as an Administrative Office Associate including Case Management, the Department of Neurosurgery and the Safety Department. Prior to that, she held a long-term post at Columbus Monthly, Columbus C.E.O. magazine and The Other Paper. Karla coordinates all CES activities and is an effective single point of contact for all questions related to OSU COM faculty teaching skills development and medical education scholarship. Karla also provides support for the Humanism in Medicine initiative. |
