What do Bill Gates, Tiger Woods and Mozart Have in Common?
Answer: Deliberate practice. “It’s activity that’s explicitly intended to improve performance, that reaches for objectives just beyond one’s level of competence, provides feedback on results and involves high levels of repetition, ”according to Dr. K. Anders Ericsson, Conradi Eminent Scholar, professor of Psychology at Florida State University and a Fellow of the American Psychological Association. Learn more on the subject from Dr. Ericsson, who is a key speaker at the OSU College of Medicine First Annual Excellence in Education Forum, "Essential Tools for Developing Professional Expertise,” scheduled for November 18 and 19. Sessions are filling up so register soon. RSVP online.

Potential Changes in Citation Tracking Tools: Provide Feedback by Nov. 18
For years, OhioLINK institutions like Ohio State have had access to Web of Science (Science Citation Index, Social Science Citation Index, and Arts & Humanities Citation Index) for interdisciplinary subject and citation searching and analysis. Recent budget reductions at OhioLINK and its libraries, combined with database price increases, have made it necessary to closely investigate our options for accessing multidisciplinary content and citation data. Because there could be a change in how you evaluate your research, you are being asked to explore and compare these resources to help OhioLINK choose the best solution for the future. Access the Scopus trial and provide your feedback by Nov.18 to Lynda Hartel or call 292-4892.
