Admissions > Medical College Admission Test
The Medical College Admission Test is required of all applicants and should be taken as soon as practical after completion of the required pre-medical course work. The test must be taken before the AMCAS application deadline of November 1 for the application to be considered for the next entering class.
The student should have completed all prerequisite courses before taking the MCAT. More information regarding the MCAT may be found at the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) website. Students may make further inquiry through a premedical adviser or by contacting the MCAT program directly.
For more information on medical schools in the United States and Canada and their application procedures, applicants may refer to the latest addition of "Medical School Admissions Requirements," (MSAR) which is published annually by the Association of American Medical Colleges. These requirements may be found on the AAMC's web site or this book is generally available through premedical advisors.
Candidates are selected for admission by the College of Medicine Admissions Committee. Consideration is given to both residents and nonresidents of the state of Ohio. Qualified applicants will be invited for an on-campus interview. Interviewed applicants are notified of the admission decision in about ten days after the interview. Accepted applicants are asked to accept or decline the offer of admission within two weeks after notification of the decision. Candidates holding acceptances to other medical schools are expected to make a choice promptly, in fairness to other applicants. Those holding multiple acceptances are required to make a decision by May 15. The Ohio State University may withdraw an offer of acceptance for failure to comply.
