Amala Institute of Medical Sciences
Memorandum of Understanding signed with OSUMC: March 2006
The Amala Institute of Medical Sciences is located in the southern Indian state of Kerala. The Amala Institute of Medical Sciences includes, amongst others, a medical school, a cancer hospital, and an ayurvedic hospital.
CHINA
Wenzhou Medical College (WMC)
Memorandum of Understanding signed with OSUMC: May 2007
The college opened in 1912 in Hangzhou and moved to Wenzhou in 1958. In 2001 a Sino-U.S. joint MD/OD program was initiated. Over 30 international exchange students from around the world study at affiliated hospitals of WMC. The college and its associated hospitals have particular strength in ophthalmology and optometric research, with a new research tower currently being outfitted with the latest scientific equipment. The Wenzhou area is the single largest manufacturing zone for eyeglasses in the world.
Zhejiang Chinese Medical University (ZCMU)

ZCMU was founded in 1959 in the city of Hangzhou in the Zhejiang province and is a Chinese leader in the practice, and research into, traditional Chinese medicine. It has an established international student exchange program, available in English, and is an ideal facility for students interested in learning traditional Chinese medicine (TCM). TCM is taught in the context of western medicine.
Wuhan University Health Science Center (WUHSC)

WUHSC is located in Wuhan, the capital of the province of Hubei, the official sister state of Ohio. Wuhan is the fifth largest city in China with a population of approximately 8,312,600. Wuhan University is the largest university in Central China and is OSU's principal institutional partner in China. There are a number of collaborative programs and activities for students, faculty and academic units. Because of the strength and breadth of these programs Wuhan University considers Ohio State as its principal academic partner in the United States. WUHSC has the goal of becoming a leader in biomedical research and has invested heavily in the area of infectious disease, with advanced BSL3 facilities.
Xi’an Jiaotong University School of Medicine (XJTUSOM)

XJTU is located in Xi’an, one of the ancient capitals of China and currently the capital of the province of Shaanxi. It is the largest city in Northwestern China and world-known for the nearby discovery of an army of buried life-sized terra cotta soldiers and horses. Xi’an Medical University is ranked 18th among all medical schools in China and the University as a whole was ranked among the top 12 universities in 2005. The XJTU School of Medicine includes the former colleges of medicine, nursing, public health, forensic medicine, dentistry, and pharmacy. Xi’an is a comprehensive academic medical center with both Colleges of Medicine and Nursing with co-located hospitals, including one under construction.
