As a second-year medical student, Nicola Fynn spent part of her summer break working with families who are battling poverty in a suburb outside of Ensenada, Mexico. International students studying medical Spanish at the University of Xochicalco interviewed families in this neighborhood about their living conditions, family history, and health status. The students were then able to return with free medications and information about where health care is available in their area.
