The Cardiac Electrophysiology Fellowship training is based at the Ohio State University (OSU) Medical Center and Ross Heart Hospital.

There are two dedicated state-of-the-art clinical cardiac electrophysiology (EP) laboratories equipped with Omega digital fluoroscopy, including a biplane unit. The laboratories are also equipped with sophisticated three-dimensional CARTO mapping system which has image integration capability. Intracardiac echocardiography (ICE) is performed with Acunav unit. There is another small laboratory with a C-arm fluoroscopy system that is used for procedures like device change-out. Head-up tilt table test is performed in the Tilt room.

The management of patients receiving heart rhythm care is directed by the clinical cardiac arrhythmia team.  Pre-operative evaluation, post-operative care, pre-discharge evaluation, and post hospital discharge follow-up are managed by the electrophysiology team.  There are outpatient facilities for arrhythmia evaluation and device follow-up.  The Ohio State University Division of Cardiology has several outpatient sites including the Ross Heart Hospital on campus as well as 12 additional outpatient sites.  Over 1000 patients with ICDs and over 1500 patients with pacing devices are followed by the arrhythmia device service at these outpatient centers.  Over 2500 EP procedures are performed at OSU including: over 450 detailed EP studies coupled with catheter ablation (which includes complex SVT, VT and  atrial fibrillation ablation), over 400 pacemaker implantations, and over 200 ICD implantations.

Formal didactic sessions, journal clubs, or research conferences involving electrophysiology topics are held on a regular basis.  In addition, there are ECG conferences twice a month, during which electrophysiology fellows and general cardiology fellows participate in the interpretation of complex electrocardiograms.

The EP fellows are mentored and supervised by faculty members in the conduct of research. Fellows are encouraged and supported in enhancing their scholarly activities through publication of manuscripts or abstracts in peer-reviewed journals and/or abstracts presented at national specialty meetings such as the Heart Rhythm Society, ACC and AHA meetings.
