Serving Our Communities Off-Campus

The Division of Infectious Diseases serves as an active clinical partner with other area health care providers and agencies, which provides fellows with additional clinical and investigative experiences.

The Division maintains an association with the Columbus Health Department, offering fellows potential opportunities to practice in the department's extensive and active programs in Tuberculosis and Sexual Health. Fellows currently spend one month of training at the Sexual Health Clinic. Opportunities for elective time at the TB clinic also exist.

Division faculty also staff the Columbus Children's Hospital's FACES program (Family AIDS Clinical and Educational Services), a clinic for HIV-infected adults.

The Division provides infectious diseases consultation for patients from the Ohio Department of Corrections in hospital, via telemedicine and on location at the Correctional Medical Center.

Infectious Diseases faculty member Dr. Julie Mangino heads hospital epidemiology efforts and some laboratory training for clinical microbiology at OSU Hospitals East. The hospital is located in a medically underserved neighborhood, part of The OSU Medical Center mission to provide services for poor and underserved communities.
