Education

  • Pharm.D. 1989, University of Nebraska, Omaha NE
  • Clinical Residency 1990, University of California at San Francisco
  • Post-Doctoral Fellowship 1993, University of California at San Francisco

Areas of Interest

  • Lung Inflammation and Remodeling
  • Lung Epithelial Cell Biology
  • Metal Homeostasis

My laboratory investigates lung epithelial cell behavior during normal cell function, wound remodeling, and disease pathogenesis. Our investigations are translational and utilize primary human lung cultures, animal models, and humans subjects.  We primarily focus our attention on the identification of key molecular targets in the lung that promote inappropriate lung cell function. We then interrogate these targets to better understand disease predisposition and pathogenesis. The overarching goal of these studies is to develop innovative therapeutic strategies to prevent or treat lung disease.
