Minor respiratory problems during the cold and flu season could mean major difficulties for asthma sufferers, according to specialists at Ohio State University Medical Center who have designed a program that provides patients with a comprehensive asthma management plan. “There is data that supports involvement of an asthma specialist in patients with persistent asthma,” says Dr. John Mastronarde, a pulmonologist at Ohio State’s Medical Center and director of its asthma center. Individualized care and education for asthma is a three-step program.
