Service Learning for Leadership

Participation in service learning activities assist trainees to gain an understanding of various issues and services important to people with disabilities. Trainees may join ongoing consultation, continuing education, and technical assistance provided by faculty or participate in Nisonger sponsored activites such as:  

Next Chapter Book Club: Co-facilitate a book club weekly (for 10 weeks) at a location in the community with a group of 6 – 8 adolescents or adults with intellectual disabilities to facilitate a book club.

The Annual Ohio Adult Sibling Conference: Assist with organization and implementation of the Annual Ohio Adult Sibling Conference.

Transition Weekend: Assist with the organization and implementation of Transition Weekend, a weekend focused on helping transition aged youth with developmental disabilities plan for their future.
