Multiple Faculty Positions in Immunology and the Dynamics of Host-Pathogen Interactions

Update: As of August 1st, 2012, we are no longer seeking new faculty recruits.

The newly established Department of Microbial Infection and Immunity at The Ohio State University College of Medicine invites applications for several tenure-track faculty positions at all levels. Candidates should have a MD, MD/PhD, or PhD, postdoctoral experience, documented evidence of high quality research, and a strong commitment to education and research at a major research university.

Current strengths of the department include innate immunity, mucosal pathogens, intracellular parasitism, therapeutics, and neuroimmunology. The Department has outstanding facilities and support, including a vibrant collaborative research community, an open laboratory environment that promotes interactions, and state of the art BSL3 and core facilities. The Department is closely affiliated with the interdepartmental Center for Microbial Interface Biology, which administers an NIH-funded training grant in microbial pathogenesis.

Preference will be given to funded individuals with research programs focused in the following key thematic areas: adaptive immunity, microbial genomics, microbial community interactions, and tissue microenvironment biology. The successful applicant will be expected to develop and maintain an extramurally funded research program, perform cooperative research with others, and participate in graduate and medical student education. Faculty will be provided with a competitive salary and start-up package. Please submit via email a single PDF containing a letter of interest, curriculum vitae, description of future research plans, and the names of at least three potential referees to: Search Committee Chair, Microbial Infection and Immunity, The Ohio State University, Columbus OH 43210 (miisearch@osumc.edu). To ensure full consideration, applications should be received by March 1, 2012, but will be accepted until the positions are filled. To build a diverse workforce Ohio State encourages applications from individuals with disabilities, minorities, veterans, and women. Flexible work options are available. EEO/AA employer.
