Nelson Named President-Elect of ABEM 

 
Richard Nelson, MD, professor of Clinical Emergency Medicine, has been named president-elect of the American Board of Emergency Medicine (ABEM). Nelson has been involved with ABEM since 1983 and has served on the Board of Directors since 2004. He chairs the Board’s Initial Certification Task Force and Test Development Committee.  Nelson also represents ABEM to the American Board of Medical Specialties.

 

The ABEM establishes the credentialing requirements and examinations to evaluate physicians who seek certification in Emergency Medicine. As of 2009, more than 29,000 physicians have been certified by ABEM.
