To improve the coordination and delivery of biomedical
informatics and biostatistics services for the Ohio State University Wexner
Medical Center and College of Medicine research community, The Ohio State
University Center for Biostatistics will become an operating unit within the
Department of Biomedical Informatics (BMI).
This move will provide members of the Center for
Biostatistics with an academic home and will ensure the continued growth of
innovative methodologies and support the opportunities in career development
for members of the center.
Susan Geyer, PhD, will serve as interim director for the
Center while we conduct a national search. Dr. Geyer has worked at Ohio State’s
Wexner Medical Center since 2009. In this role, she will report to Philip
Payne, PhD, Chair of the Department of Biomedical Informatics. Dr. Geyer
received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees and doctorate in statistics from
American University. Her focus has been statistics and economics.
We want to thank David Jarjoura, PhD, for his leadership of
the Center over the past eight years, and his commitment to support the OSUWMC
research community. His work on behalf of the Center has provided the
foundations for this next step to advance biomedical research at OSUWMC.
