Today’s medical environment offers a myriad of research opportunities to ophthalmology educators and practitioners. Through our research efforts, faculty at the Havener Eye Institute, Department of Ophthalmology at The Ohio State University, are helping to reverse and prevent blindness for patients. We're also proud to be participating in the National Eye Institute's Diabetic Retinopathy Clinical Research Network.
Department faculty have participated in a number of major research projects, including these nationally-funded grants: the Collaborative Ocular Melanoma Study (COMS), the Submacular Surgery Trials (SST), Complications of AMD Prevention Trial (CAPT), the Ocular Hypertension Trial Study (OHTS), and the Advanced Glaucoma Intervention Study (AGIS). Current studies include Age-Related Eye Disease Study 2 (AREDS2), Comparison of Age-Related Macular Degeneration Treatment Trials (CATT), several Diabetic Retinopathy Clinical Research Network(DRCR) studies, and many other industry funded projects. See our faculty page for individual research interests.
