Professionalism Committee for Clinical Practice Announces
The New Professionalism Award
The goal of the OSU Medical Center’s Professionalism Committee for Clinical Practice is to promote professional behavior within the medical center. In order to increase awareness of this very important part of clinical practice we have developed a Code of Professional Conduct that was adopted by the medical center available at http://medicine.osu.edu/professionalism/5975.cfm. This code represents the principals of professionalism that all of us should strive to maintain in our interactions with patients, family members, other physicians, and all hospital staff.
Our committee is pleased to announce the creation of the Professionalism Award. We believe that one of the best ways to make people aware of the kind of professional behaviors that we should all strive for is to recognize those among us who exemplify professionalism. While the medical center gives many awards, none specifically recognizes those individuals who are great role models for professional behavior. This award, which will be given quarterly, aims to fill that gap.
If you feel there is a medical staff member or medical center employee who exemplifies these ideals, we would ask you to please nominate them for this honor. Award winners will receive a plaque and gift certificate. The nomination form may also be completed online from the Professionalism website: http://medicine.osu.edu/professionalism/professionals_award.cfm. Nominations completed online will be sent directly to Dr. Steven Steinberg.
