STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT
Michael Nickoli, currently a second year medical student who conducted research in the laboratory of Dr. Richard Gumina during the summer of 2008 as a Roessler Student, has been selected to give an oral present at American Heart Association's Scientific Sessions for his abstract entitled "Ectonucleoside Triphosphate Diphosphohydrolase-1 (ENTDP-1/CD39) Over-Expression Delays in vivo Carotid Arterial Thrombosis in Mice."
Session Title: Novel Mechanisms and Molecules Involved in Platelet Activation
Session Date: Monday, November 16, 2009, 2p - 5p
Michael was lead Student Scientist on this project with Wes Milks (also a Roessler Scholar and second author on the abstract) providing support on the project. Michael reciprocated providing support on Wes' project entitled "Ectonucleoside Triphosphate Diphosphohydrolase 1 (ENTDP-1/CD39) Overexpression is Protective Against in vivo Myocardial Ischemia-Reperfusion Injury."
