Improving people's lives through innovation in research, education and patient care is our mission in the OSU College of Medicine (COM). One way we carry out our mission and meet the ONE University Goal of research prominence is by translating discoveries made here into new diagnostics, devices and treatments for patients and new strategies for the prevention of illness and disease. COM faculty and staff should look for opportunities to use knowledge generated at OSU to create or improve products and provide new or improved services. Investigators and clinicians should consider potential commercial applications of OSU research when planning and conducting studies, when analyzing research results, and when treating patients. Ideally, identification and disclosure of new ideas should occur prior to publishing the results.
