Faculty member:  Dr. Tim Lautenschlaeger
Date posted: 8/26/2010
Deadline: until filled

Description We are seeking a highly motivated Postdoc to join our translational Radiation Oncology group (Dr. Arnab Chakravarti) at the James Cancer Center / Ohio State University.

The focus of our research is to identify prognostic and predictive biomarkers, as well as novel therapeutic targets, and to transfer those findings into benefits for tomorrow’s patients.  Metabolomic analysis is one major area of biomarker discovery for our laboratory.  Human biospecimens (i.e. tumor tissue, blood, or urine) are analyzed using LC/MS to identify biomarkers for i.e. survival, metastasis, or events of toxicity.  As part of our projects we seek to functionally characterize these biomarkers in preclincal model systems.

Techniques:
-Metabolomic profiling using LC/MS: QQQ, QTOF
-Basic biostatistical analysis
-Integration of metabolomic and genomic data
-Biomarker and drug target validation in preclinical models
Qualifications:  Doctoral Degree required. Previous work experience using MS-based “omics” techniques (metabolomics, metabonomics, proteomics) in a clinical environment is desired.  Due to the complexity of the project multi-tasking and independence are important characteristics for any prospective applicant. The successful applicant should be a team player and eager to strengthen the personalized medicine efforts of the James Cancer Center at the Ohio State University.

We offer a competitive salary with outstanding benefits, participation in workshops and conferences, and a genuine interest in your professional development.
