Each year, research trainees working and studying in the OSU Medical Center have an opportunity to display and present their research in a public forum. The participants include graduate students, MD-PhD (Medical Scientist) students, medical students, students enrolled in the undergraduate biomedical science program, postdoctoral researchers and fellows and clinical residents and fellows. While an enriching experience for these trainees, Research Day offers its own rewards for faculty who serve as judges.

Our volunteer judges contribute to the future success of these trainees by providing constructive criticism and guidance in their areas of expertise, while expanding their own awareness of the breadth and depth of research being done at the training level.

Judicial Duties

Judges may sign up to review as many posters as they wish during morning or afternoon sessions. Typically, Research Day judges sign up to review four posters, a process that usually takes two hours or less.

On the day of the event, judges spend time discussing posters with their assigned presenters and completing the evaluation form, which contains a checklist of critical review areas and a rating scale. (These forms are made available only to judges who have been approved as volunteers through the judge’s web page.)

We are grateful for the time and effort given by our participating judges. Thank you in advance for volunteering and for helping to insure the success of our Research Day events.
