Congratulations on your acceptance to the College of Medicine!  Now that you have successfully navigated the admissions process, the next step is to fund your medical education.  We realize the resources you and your family have are often not sufficient to meet the costs of attending medical school.  Student Financial Services makes every effort to help you secure needed funds through scholarships, fellowships, and student loans.  In addition, our Web site offers 24-hour self-service options.

  • Eligibility for Financial Aid: To receive financial aid, you must be enrolled at least half time, be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident, and be making satisfactory progress through the medical curriculum.

  • Applying for Financial Aid: You will need to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). There is no College-specific application to apply for assistance.

  • Applying for Scholarships: Special eligibility scholarships are funded by donors, alumni, and the College of Medicine. Most are awarded during the summer and autumn quarters. Need-based scholarships are offered by the College, and to be eligible, you must submit your FAFSA by March 1.

  • Appeal Forms: Appeal forms for changes in student/parent resources or expenses, nonresident fees for relocation to Columbus outside the state of Ohio, changes in lease agreements, or computer purchases must be submitted by March 1 of each academic year. Be sure to attach itemized documentation or proof of payment.

  • Tuition and Budget: The annual cost of your medical education takes into consideration your tuition, fees, books, supplies, estimated room and board, personal, and transportation costs. You only receive living expenses during your period of enrollment.

  • Disbursement Information: By going online, you can check on your status, accept your financial aid, sign a promissory note, and even set up a direct deposit account. Please note that fee payment schedules and financial aid disbursements differ for each class.

  • Resources:  Student Financial Services also provides links to financial planning and tools, direct consolidation loans, tax benefits, scholarships, credit reports, residency establishment, and more.
