Frequently Asked Questions

Home > Services > Academic Advising/Career Planning > Frequently Asked Questions

If I need to discuss something of a personal nature, will it be kept confidential?

We are required to report anything that would make a student a danger to others or patients.  Otherwise, whatever you say will be treated in strictest confidence, just as in the doctor-patient relationship.

Will I be graded on any of the MSAC services that I use?  My concern is that my performance would appear on my academic record or in my Medical Student Performance Evaluation.

Absolutely not!  There is no grading aspect of any MSAC activity.

Will my peers view my participation in MSAC activities as a sign of weakness or academic jeopardy?

This will definitely not be the case.  We are committed to serving every single member of our student body.  In addition to helping students who have very specific problems with respect to a test or grade, the MSAC offers services at the very highest level of the performance spectrum as well.  The Student-Driven Groups, for example, are specifically designed to give you the opportunity for obtaining something extra, a forum in which you can push to be “the best that you can be.”
