How are students nominated?
There is no nomination process. All junior and senior students who are eligible academically (top 25% of their class) are considered. We request CV’s from the senior class. It is recommended that anyone who is interested send in a CV because students don’t always know if they are in the top 25% of their class.
Is there any difference between the criteria for election of third- versus fourth-year students?
Yes, the selection of junior members is more heavily weighted academically.
Who elects new members?
Current members of the OSU Gamma Chapter elect inductees, notifying them either by e-mail or pager within 48 hours of their selection.
Will my election to AOA be included in my Medical Student Performance Evaluation?
Yes, the election date is set so that new members can have this honor included in their Medical Student Performance Evaluation.
What projects are members involved in?
Members participate in one or more service projects during the year. These are usually done on a single day, but what is done is decided entirely by the current members.
