Frequently Asked Questions

Home > Honor Societies > Gold Humanism Honor Society > Frequently Asked Questions

How many students may be inducted at any one time into the GHHS?

Up to 15% of the class may be inducted.

Why is membership in the GHHS limited to students at the end of their third year?

This is the time when students will have completed their core clinical clerkships. During this period, they will have worked with peers and faculty, developing the clinical as well as interpersonal skills and attitudes essential for excellent patient care. This provides the ideal time to identify those students who best exemplify the ideals of humanism in medicine.

May I nominate more than one student?

Of course. You may nominate up to three classmates (including yourself) in each section.

Do faculty only nominate faculty for the Gold Humanism Honor Society?

No. Students may also nominate faculty for their commitment to service and their attitudes toward others.

What is the time commitment?

Students are expected to actively participate in monthly volunteer efforts or work on starting a project.
