Planning Calendar

CalendarAs an accepted applicant to the College of Medicine at Ohio State, there are some questions that will likely come to mind as you begin to plan for the rest of the year.  The following is a rough outline that should help you plan your activities between now and the first day of orientation.  More details about orientation and required forms will be available on your status page by mid-May.

December - All accepted applicants are considered for Admissions scholarships.  Awarding begins in December and usually continues through May.  Notification of scholarship awards are made by telephone.  No additional application is needed to receive consideration.

Visit the College Student Financial Services web site to review the cost of attendance information to begin planning ahead.

January - File the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) before March 1.  The Ohio State University school code is 003090.

February - Out-of-state applicants should review the requirements for becoming an Ohio resident.  Visit the University Registrar site for details.

April - You will receive your financial aid award letter by mid-April.  Think about attending our Second Look Day if you are still undecided.  Information is sent by e-mail in February.

Early May - Orientation materials will be available on your status page.  Information includes:  sample academic calendar, course registration, HIPAA training modules, laptop information, medical history forms, tentative orientation agenda, self-disclosure form and White Coat Ceremony details.

May 15 - By AAMC Traffic Rules, you may hold as many acceptances as you like until May 15.  On May 15, choose one medical school (preferably Ohio State!) and withdraw from all other schools.

June / July / August - If you are in Columbus, get your BuckID and parking permit.  There will be time to get these during orientation if you are not here before then.

August - Orientation!  The White Coat Ceremony is held late afternoon of the first day.
