Each spring, second-year medical students moving into their third year of medical school at The Ohio State University College of Medicine participate in the Student Clinician's Ceremony. It marks their transition from preclinical to clinical experience and encourages commitment to humanistic practice as future physicians. Before entering their clerkship, students take this opportunity to learn more about what they could experience while practicing medicine in an educational setting and as they begin their careers. By providing insight, discussing fears and expectations, and taking the Medical School Oath, the Student Clinician’s Ceremony provides a forum for collective and reflective discussion of the students’ experiences.
