[Text on screen: SAKIMA SMITH, MD CARDIOVASCULAR MEDICINE] So for me, it was a very easy decision to embrace Ohio State and move forward in terms of developing my career. [Video clip of Sakima Smith, MD, interacting with another individual] And the support has been phenomenal. [Text on screen: BRANDON KIM, MD OTOLARYNGOLOGY] Brandon Kim, MD: Every time I talked to people from Ohio State, every time I came to visit, I could sense that they were really honest, had a lot of integrity, and were looking out for my best interests. And I knew that I wanted the people that I had met to be my colleagues in the future. And so that was the main driving reason that I came to Ohio State. [Text on screen: KO UN PARK, MD SURGICAL ONCOLOGY] Ko Un Park, MD: I came to Ohio State because of the opportunity to advance the care of breast cancer patients and the opportunity to work with a great multidisciplinary team. [Video clip of Ko Un Park, MD, speaking with another individual about a body scan] [Video clip of individuals in an operating room] When I came here to visit, I saw the compassionate care that was being delivered by my colleagues and the world class opportunity to participate in research. [Various video clips of the Wexner Medical Center building and staff interacting with patients and each other, including Ko Un Park, MD, teaching students] [Text on screen: CHANTEL GRAY, MD ANESTHESIOLOGY] Chantel Gray, MD: Here, I have the opportunity to practice in a very complex environment. [Video clip of Chantel Gray, MD, walking around the hospital and speaking with another individual] There wasn't any other position that really gave me the opportunity to practice critical care medicine with three distinct patient populations. Kim, MD: Professionally, there are so many resources. We have the FAME program that helps early career physicians sort of navigate academic medicine and figure out how to position themselves to continue to grow within their field, continue to build their national reputation, and also continue this process of lifelong learning. Gray, MD: Another privilege of working at an academic institution is the fact that you have the opportunity to work with a lot of different learners. So we have fellows, we have residents, and we also have medical students. [Video clips of campus and individuals interacting in a hospital setting] [Text on screen: GREGORY CVETANOVICH, MD ORTHOPAEDIC SURGERY] Gregory Cvetanovich, MD: There are ongoing research endeavors that we're involved in, including multicenter, prospective studies with institutions around the country and collaborators around the country. And the goal of all of this is to help better understand the problems that our patients face and help deliver better treatment to them. [Video clips of aerial views of the Wexner Medical Center, The Ohio State University, and Columbus] Smith, MD: Our mission is to become a top ten medical center. And with the energy, the growth, the expansion and innovation that's already here, and being a large undergraduate institution and having that connection with the medical center, provides a unique opportunity that really doesn't exist anywhere else in the country.
