Steven Holfinger, MD: Hi, my name is Steven Holfinger. I'm an assistant professor of clinical medicine here at Ohio State University in the sleep department. My work's primarily clinical, just seeing sleep patients, but I'm interested in all aspects of technology and bringing that to the bedside in sleep medicine. So to that end, I'm working with artificial intelligence with the SAGIC group, which is the Sleep Apnea Global Interdisciplinary Consortium. I'm also part of the AASM Consumer and Clinical Sleep Technology committee. What I love about Columbus is that it's got a lot of the benefits of a big city, like lots of entertainment and food choices, lots of places to live. But the cost of living is pretty low, and then there's also pretty much no traffic, which is nice. As far as the sleep fellowship here at Ohio State goes, I went through it myself, and I can't recommend it highly enough. The things that I liked about it and what brought me here, initially, was that the ratio of fellows to the attendings is pretty low. So there's so few fellows, but you get to still learn from neurology, internal medicine, pulmonary, ENT, dentists. You get a very good feel for how all the different fields approach sleep medicine. And because there's so many—the program is so large, there's a lot of sleep studies to choose from, it gives the program director a lot of choice in terms of giving you more rare studies that are being seen in the lab and being able to just get a better feel for the more rare cases in sleep medicine. As far as after the fellowship, I stayed here at Ohio State. I stayed because I thought the people were great in the way that the work environment was, everybody worked together really well. But, not only that, Ohio State just being as large of an institution as it is, there's a lot of benefits to that as far as being able to have just opportunities for research or working with other departments and other groups as well. So, I hope that you really consider Ohio State, and you come here, and hopefully I meet you soon. Take care, bye, bye.
