Julie Niedermier, MD: Hi, I'm Julie Niedermier. Welcome to the Ohio State University Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health. I am so excited that you are thinking about OSU for residency. I want you to know that your psychiatric education here with us at OSU is not just about clinical learning or classroom learning. We value your wellness. We value the diversity you bring to our program, and we also value the advocacy and impact that you will someday make. Thanks for considering Ohio State University, and we are delighted that you are thinking about joining our residency program. I'm the Chair of the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health here at the Ohio State University College of Medicine and Wexner Medical Center. Welcome to our department. We're delighted to hear that you are thinking about us as a potential place to train to be the next generation of psychiatrists for our communities and for our country. [Text on screen K. Luan Phan, MD Department Chair] [Luan Phan is seated in his office wearing a grey suit and a red tie with an Ohio State University pin on the lapel.] As a department chair, I believe in the three missions of every academic psychiatry department. First and foremost, we're here to teach medical students and train the best residents. Second, we're here to deliver best-in-class care to our patients. And third, we're here to make discoveries and translate those discoveries back into the clinics and into the community. Across those three missions, our residents, I hope, are vitally important and play a role in each of them as they join faculty and clinical staff in helping us achieve those three missions. When you come to visit us virtually on interviews, I'll talk to you about training as a Buckeye, and I'll use three B's. We aim to be the best by being big, by being balanced, and being bold. And I'll go into those three b's in a little bit more detail when we meet in person. Meanwhile, thank you for checking us out, looking at the videos, going through our website, and looking at the broader values, missions, and vision of our Medical Center, our medical school, and our department. I hope you enjoy what you see, and that it compels you to take the next step of formally applying to our residency program, and I look forward to meeting you at the next step. Take care.
