So I chose medicine as a career path mainly because of the patient experiences that I've had. So when I was in college at Pitt, I really got into lifting and bodybuilding, and some of the experiences that I had from that, I really kind of saw that in my patient encounters too. I worked as a medical assistant in endocrinology and the best outcomes for patients that I experienced firsthand were people that really developed really successful exercise routines that they were able to follow through, and that led to really good sustainable lifestyle changes for them. So that message really kind of resonated with me and it made me want to share that as a physician with my patients in the future. I think success as a physician for me would look like being able to establish really close relationships with my patients so that they feel seen and heard and to really help them through what could be vulnerable moments in their life. Moreover, though, I also hope that success as a physician for me would be that I'm able to kind of change things through my skills and advocacy and mentorship. So beyond just individual patient encounters, I really hope that I'm able to drive larger-scale changes in terms of healthcare policy, just improve access to healthcare for the average American.
