There wasn't even another specialty that even crossed my mind because for me and who I am and my own strengths, I think knowing myself, I'm a people person. I've been told from a lot of people that I'd be wasting my talents to not go into sales. I didn't really want to do that. I wanted to do, like I said, something that's for others. And I feel like family medicine is the closest you can get to "sales" as a doctor where your job is to build relationships, nurture relationships, and really get to know people over the whole span of their lives. And to me, that was by far the best part about the specialty where you don't just do amazing things and "fix" a person and then they're discharged from your service, but you get to keep the same patient and then if they have kids, their kids for your whole career. And to me, I think that that is super unique and super special as an aspect of a career. So that's the biggest draw for me, just the relationship building, getting to know people, build that therapeutic relationship.
