[Text on screen: Robert Merritt, MD Director, Division of Thoracic Surgery The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center] Robert Merritt, MD: Welcome to the Division of Thoracic Surgery at the Ohio State Wexner Medical Center. My name is Robert Merritt, I am the division director. Our vision is to provide the very best patient care, to perform cutting edge translational research for lung cancer and esophageal cancer, and to train the next generation of academic general thoracic surgeons. Our current programs include robotic surgery, minimally invasive esophagectomy, and lung volume reduction surgery. We are currently one of the highest volume thoracic surgery robotic programs in the country and in the world. We also have a high volume lung volume reduction surgery program, which provides great care to patients with end stage pulmonary disease. We also perform minimally invasive esophagectomy for esophageal cancer, which allows patients to recover faster and return to work faster. We strive to be the best and to provide the best care, to provide breakthroughs in research, and also to educate and train future thoracic surgeons.
