[MUSIC] [Various video clips of Columbus] [Text on screen: SHREYA REDDY Second Year Family Medicine Resident] Shreya Reddy: I love Columbus because there is just so much diversity here. [Various video clips of different groups of people at various activities and events around Columbus] Whether it's the people, the culture, things you're looking to do, there's always something. And I bet no matter who you are or what you enjoy doing, you're probably gonna find something you love in Columbus. [Text on screen: STEVEN SCOVILLE Second Year General Surgery Resident] Steven Scoville: When I was looking at residency programs, I looked all over the country. [Various video clips of Columbus skylines, The Ohio State University's campus, and other Columbus locations such as the zoo] I've got family out west, family out east, and I was looking on both coasts. The thing that really stood out to me for Columbus is, the cost of living is probably one of the biggest. So, I have four children, so this was one of the only places that really offered a top notch education and training while still being able to afford to live here, and that really made all the difference. [Text on screen: MENA BOTROS Fellow, Director of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine] Mena Botros: Columbus is probably going to surprise you, it's very diverse, but very fun city. [Various video clips of music and sporting events] All the things that you may want to find in a big city, you may find here in Columbus. I looked at Chicago, New York City, Boston, Chapel Hill, all these places that have a lot to offer, both in terms of the city as well as the location, and I still found myself here in Columbus. [Aerial views of Columbus shown through various video clips] Reddy: I think what I loved the most about Columbus was just how big it feels, but at the same time, you still have that small town or Midwestern feel. [Video clips of restaurants, OSU's campus, and a market in Columbus] So you have everything you need, the amenities, the parks, the restaurants, the bars, all of that, but it still feels like you're in a nice Midwestern city around friendly people without all of the drawbacks that I didn't want. [Aerial view of downtown Columbus] Scoville: There are so many economic opportunities here in Columbus. Part of the draw was not only me and my medical career and training, but also for my wife and everything that she was interested in. [Video clips of the Short North area in Columbus] She was able to find a job. I have lots of friends here in the medical community whose spouses or significant others have been able to find really great opportunities for them as well. So it's not just a one-sided place to move, for sure. [Aerial view of the Wexner Medical Center] Reddy: What I love about the program here at Ohio State is that we have multiple opportunities to rotate and work at different healthcare settings and facilities throughout the city. [Various video clips of Nationwide Children's Hospital] We go to Nationwide Children's for our pediatric training, which is one of the top pediatric institutes in the country, and that provides us great exposure. [Video clip of the East Hospital] We also go to the East Hospital, where we get more of a community-based feel for our training program. [Video clip of Nationwide Children's hospital and a healthcare professional interacting with a young patient] Botros: The great thing about Nationwide Children's is that not only is it a great hospital, but it's located pretty close to Ohio State. So for anyone who's considering a dual program or a program where their sub-specialty trains them within pediatrics, you have easy access right across the city to Nationwide Children's. [Aerial view of Columbus] Scoville: In addition to the medical facility, you've got a wonderful community who's invested in the university more than, I think, anywhere else in the country. [Video clips of the North Market as well as diverse groups of people] Reddy: I was really looking for a diverse population with a lot of food options, coffee shops. [Video clips of various parks in Columbus] I love all of the metro parks that are all over the city, very accessible. [Video clips of a festival and a parade] There's a ton of events and festivals and activities that you can do through all of the seasons. And it just felt like no matter what day or time of year, there's always something going on. [Various video clips of night life in Columbus including a clip of a bartender pouring a drink and the Short North lit up at night] Botros: The question that I asked most people when I was thinking about moving to their city was, what's the diversity like? [Video clips of people playing basketball, live music, and fireworks] Would I feel comfortable there? And what I would tell anyone who has that question on their mind is, absolutely yes, you will feel comfortable here in Columbus.
