Alpa Patel, MD: Hi, I'm Alpa Patel. I'm one of the sleep medicine fellows who just graduated from the Ohio State University Sleep Medicine Program this year, and I just wanted to share my experience as a fellow here. And one of the biggest thing that I've enjoyed is the diversity of faculty members who are very, very passionate about education. [Video on screen Alpa Patel is standing infornt of a wall with many certifications on it. She is wearing her staff badge and a watercolored shortsleeve shirt.] I have been very lucky to be trained by physicians trained in sleep medicine, but with different backgrounds. We have had peds, pulmonologists, adult pulmonologists, adult neurologists, pediatric neurologists, psychiatry, psychologists, and now a new member that I've joined is a met peds physician who all are trained in sleep medicine. And to be educated and trained in sleep medicine by all of these physicians has been a phenomenal experience. It is definitely a one-year fellowship that is intense; it requires a lot of learning, and you have a load of work to do, but it's also worth it. And that is the biggest plus is that the faculty treats you like a colleague. You're not a student, you're not a resident. They respect you, they work with you, you learn how to read sleep studies. The best part is the month of July, where you work with the sleep lap technicians and the sleep lap staff members, who actually teach you how to read the PSGs and sleep studies. And you take that knowledge, and you fine-tune it throughout the year with individual faculty members, and you have your weekly didactic lectures. The group of faculty members all get in together with this. We learn as a group. There's a nice educational interaction in the team. So, Columbus is also a great place to live. It's easy to get around, unlike the big cities, where traffic can be a nightmare. That is not the case. Typically, in Columbus, Ohio, there are a lot of activities, the school systems are great, if that's relevant to you. And so, I'm hoping that you will consider the Ohio State University Sleep Medicine Fellowship Program, and come and join us; we would love to have you. Thank you.
