The College of Medicine’s Master of Medical Science (MMS) program offers physicians-in-training at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center and Nationwide Children’s Hospital the opportunity to prepare for research careers in academic medicine through pursuit of a core curriculum, individualized electives, seminars, and a mentored research project.

The program provides an opportunity for promising clinically trained individuals to develop into independent biomedical academicians by facilitating the transition from postdoctoral training to a career as an independent investigator and educator.

What are the admission requirements of the MMS program?

Applicants must hold an MD or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) and hold a current clinical fellowship or residency position (or be accepted into a fellowship or residency program that begins prior to matriculation into the MMS program). Applicants must have the explicit and direct endorsement of the program director and chair for trainees from the applicant’s fellowship or residency program.  Contact the program manager prior to submitting an application.
