David Bahner, MD, a residency graduate of the College of Medicine, has been named 2012 Researcher of the Year in the Department of Emergency Medicine at OSU. The award is given annually to an individual who has contributed significantly to scholarship in the field of emergency medicine. Bahner has published more than ten publications and given numerous presentations both at home and abroad, as well as mentored many medical students, residents, fellows and junior faculty in Emergency Medicine other disciplines.
Bahner has also recently received the 2012 Academy of Emergency Ultrasound Education Award at the annual meeting of the SAEM (Society of Academic Emergency Medicine). The AEUS Emergency Ultrasound Education Award recognizes individuals who have demonstrated outstanding contribution to the field of emergency ultrasound through education and scholarly activity. Individuals who are members of SAEM with a track record of teaching recognition, education awards, education grant funding, peer-reviewed publication or other education activities are considered for this award.
