William E. Evans M.D., 80, of Circleville died on August 20, 2014 with his family by his side at the Ohio State MedDr. Evans.jpgical Center in Columbus.

William "Bill" Evans was born on December 15, 1934 to Kate (Wertz) and Charlie Evans in Marion, Ohio. He graduated from Williams College in 1956 where he was a three sports varsity athlete, playing football, basketball and golf. He went on to graduate from the Ohio State University School of Medicine in 1961. He served in the U.S. Air Force where he was a Captain and physician. He was an avid horseman, hunter and golfer and was happiest being outdoors or reading and writing. He has authored many professional journals and textbook chapters along with writing and publishing three novels. In his career as a surgeon he saved countless lives and as a professor of surgery at the Ohio State University College of Medicine he taught and mentored many of the finest surgeons in the country.

Dr. Evans was preceded in death by his children, Will and Cath Evans.

He is survived by his loving wife, Nancy; his brother, Robert C. (Pat) Evans; his daughters, Carol (Mike) Behling, Tracy (Jim) Sweeney and Michelle (Todd) Sloan; his nine grandchildren, Katie, Paige, Matt, Andrea, Michel, Adam, Jimmy, Clare, Max and Jack.

He was a fun loving, ornery, full of life and promised all of us that life with him would never be dull-and it wasn't!

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Bills name to the American Heart Association or the charity of your choice.
