'47 Charles "Chuck" Miller Bovard, MD (1923-2015) 

 

Charles "Chuck" Miller Bovard, M.D., 91, died on the evening of May 25, 2015, surrounded by family at his home at Presbyterian Village North. Dr. Bovard was born in Grove City, Pennsylvania, and grew up in Mount Vernon, Ohio. He was a graduate of Ohio Wesleyan University and The Ohio State University College of Medicine. He completed his plastic surgery residency at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, and he went on to become the first board certified plastic surgeon in the state of New Mexico in 1959. He practiced plastic and reconstructive surgery in Albuquerque, New Mexico, for more than thirty years, and following retirement from private practice, he continued as a part-time Assistant Professor of Surgery at the University of New Mexico School of Medicine. He was in the Navy V-12 program during World War II and served as a senior medical officer in the Navy during the Korean War. Dr. Bovard is survived by his wife of 61 years, Joan Maly Bovard, sons Chris, Jim, and John; daughters-in-law Allison and Christina; and five grandchildren Charlie, Sam, Jack, Alexandra, and Jacqueline.  In lieu of flowers, contributions in Dr. Bovard's honor may be sent to: Presbyterian Village North Foundation Caring Fund, 8600 Skyline Drive, Dallas, TX, 75243, or to the  charity of your choice.
