’56 Burton Anton Kassel, MD (1930-2015) 

 

BURTON ANTON KASSEL, MD, 85, of New Albany passed away on October 16, 2015. He was born on May 25, 1930 in Cleveland to the late Anton and Thelma (Bruendel) Kassel. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister and brother-in-law Arletta (Thomas) Link. Burton was a graduate of Hiram College and The Ohio State University College of Medicine. Upon graduation, he was called to the Army and served two years before becoming a family physician in Medina for 30 years. After retirement, Burton joined the US Air Force as Major and was stationed at Pope Air Force Base. He was a member of the New Albany United Methodist Church, the Haymount United Methodist Church in Fayetteville, NC, the Cumberland County Medical Association, the Medina County Medical Association (serving as Past President), the Nu Sigma Medical Fraternity, and was a 32 Degree Mason. Burton was a considerate and energetic man who will be greatly missed by his loving wife and dance partner of 61 years, Donna (Vollrath) Kassel; his children Cynthia Drollinger, Cheryl Morris and Curtis (Karen) Kassel; grandchildren Brandon, Taylor and Trevor Kassel and Amanda, Andrew, Matthew, Nicholas and Phillip Drollinger; and six great-grandchildren. Memorial contributions in his memory may be made to the church or the Masonic Service Association, 3905 National Drive, Suite 280, Burtonsville, MD 20866.
