’48 William F. Binkley, MD (1921-2016) 

 

Dr. William F. Binkley, age 94, of Columbus, passed away Wednesday, March 2, 2016. William was born and raised in Sidney, Ohio, son of the late Harry and Georgia Binkley. Also preceded in death by his first wife Jacqueline (Benfer) Binkley and siblings Harry Jr., Ruth and Mary. US Korean War Veteran. William completed his undergraduate studies and medical school at The Ohio State University. He worked as a doctor of general internal medicine throughout his career. He practiced for 31 years in Kenton, Ohio before moving to Columbus in 1986. While in Columbus, William practiced at Stoneridge Internal Medicine and taught at The Ohio State University Department of Internal Medicine before retiring in 1998. William was a warm, compassionate man who had a great sense of humor. He loved practicing medicine and loved his patients. He also enjoyed jazz music, fine automobiles, tennis, and was a lifelong Chicago Cubs fan. He will be greatly missed by his wife, Lennis Green; sons, Philip (Mary Lynn) and Michael Binkley; grandchildren, Elaine, Laura, Collin, and Dominic Binkley. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be sent to Ohio State's Heart & Vascular Center, checks made payable to "OSU Foundation" may be mailed to PO Box 183112, Columbus, Ohio 43218-3112.
